Crafting Resilience Future and Talent through ACtions promoting Traditional Culture
CRAFT-ACT aims to empower adult migrants in Italy and Turkiye through training in traditional crafts such as pottery, ceramics, and embroidery, fostering cultural heritage preservation and social inclusion. The project also provides entrepreneurship and financial education, enhancing employability and self-sufficiency for participants.
In Italy the project is implemented in the community centre of Amal for Education in Torpignattara, Rome and realised in cooperation with ItaliaHello.
In Turkiye the project is implemented by NGO Amal İnsani Yardım Derneği in Kilis, on the Syrian Turkish border.
Toolkits in Italy and Turkiye in Italian, English, Turkish and Arabic
The Craft-Act project invites people from diverse backgrounds to come together and explore the power of creativity. Through workshops in traditional crafts like pottery, embroidery, and financial education, we offer participants the chance to learn hands-on skills that celebrate heritage while fostering a shared sense of purpose and artistry.
Our program is designed to inspire creativity and encourage collaboration. By learning side by side, participants exchange techniques, ideas, and stories, creating a vibrant community where every piece reflects both individual talent and collective effort. Whether you’re shaping clay or stitching a pattern, every skill learned and shared contributes to a brighter future filled with artistry, resilience, and mutual support.
Explore our pages for each workshop to dive deeper into the journey of our participants. Here, you’ll find a showcase of the works they’ve created, each piece telling its own story of skill and creativity. You’ll also have access to the materials and guides we created, providing insight into the techniques and processes taught during the workshops. Additionally, hear directly from our participants through their testimonies, where they share their experiences, challenges, and the personal growth they achieved through the programme. Whether you’re interested in the artistic process or the impact on our community, these pages offer a comprehensive view of the transformative work happening in our workshops.
Our Workshop in Rome is an open space where women gather to share ideas and produce creative materials. But it is also a place to gather, to make tea and share traditional cakes and biscuits from the countries of origin.
In Kilis we opened a specific space for CRAFT-ACT where women gathered for all activities, pottery, embroidery and financial education.
