Crafting Resilience Future and Talent through ACtions promoting Traditional Culture

Promoting crafts

CRAFT-ACT aims to empower adult migrants in Italy and Turkiye through training in traditional crafts such as pottery, ceramics, and embroidery, fostering cultural heritage preservation and social inclusion. The project also provides entrepreneurship and financial education, enhancing employability and self-sufficiency for participants.

About Workshops

Let's be creative together

The Craft-Act project invites people from diverse backgrounds to come together and explore the power of creativity. Through workshops in traditional crafts like pottery, embroidery, and financial education, we offer participants the chance to learn hands-on skills that celebrate heritage while fostering a shared sense of purpose and artistry.

Our program is designed to inspire creativity and encourage collaboration. By learning side by side, participants exchange techniques, ideas, and stories, creating a vibrant community where every piece reflects both individual talent and collective effort. Whether you’re shaping clay or stitching a pattern, every skill learned and shared contributes to a brighter future filled with artistry, resilience, and mutual support.

Our Workshop

Our Workshop in Rome is an open space where women gather to share ideas and produce creative materials. But it is also a place to gather, to make tea and share traditional cakes and biscuits from the countries of origin.

Focus Women, Kilis

Our Workshop

In Kilis we opened a specific space for CRAFT-ACT where women gathered for all activities, pottery, embroidery and financial education.

What Our TRainers Say?

The course led to wonderful friendships. While teaching embroidery, I also met women from different countries (Peru, Bangladesh, Turkey, Tunisia). We had a great time and exchanged cultural insights on embroidery. I would like to thank Amal for opening the door for us with this project. It was a great honor for me to work with the kind and sincere staff at Amal.

The Craft Act initiative, proposed by the Amal For Education center in Torpignattara, concluded yesterday with a beautiful exhibition showcasing the main works of migrant women from the neighborhood and beyond. Working closely for seven months and seeing their passion for pottery grow was an unforgettable experience. Observing their ambition and the emergence of their identity, day by day, in the works and techniques we developed together, was the greatest gift. From the start, we established a single common language: the language of our hands. There was never a limit to expression, even when language barriers arose, and we had to rely on simultaneous translation. We all grew together, connecting cultures, hearts, and generations through clay work, and created a small neighborhood family.

What Our PARTICIPANTS Say?

This was the first time I participated in a course like this in Italy. I really appreciated the flexible schedule and enjoyed my teacher and her work. I believe I learned a lot, and it was rewarding to have the opportunity to showcase my work at the end of the course.
Ilknur
Participant
For me, it was a wonderful course because it was a discovery of what I could create with my hands, something I never would have imagined. I discovered a positive and creative side of myself that I hadn't considered. I'm very grateful to Amal for this discovery.
